Leeds General Infirmary recently took possession of a new specialised cleanroom facility to be used for the aseptic preparation of up to 60,000 items per year of patient doses of penicillins, antibiotics, anti-fungals, intrathecal injections and other intravenous medicines.
The specialist main contractor asked Birley Manufacturing to manufacture the complete furniture requirements from their Sheffield factory and then had them install these for the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust on site.
Creating a welcome impression
The new ward at Hillingdon Hospital NHS Trust, was part of a research project to identify the benefits for patients of offering single rooms. Working with healthcare focused off-site construction specialists, ModuleCo (who designed and built the new ward), Birley supplied interior fittings for 24 new state-of-the-art en-suite bedrooms and for the utility support areas.
In addition, Birley provided the novel "touch down bases" for clinicians which replaced the old style nurses station.
Bespoke reception desks
Birley Manufacturing was selected by main contractor, Galliford Try, to design and manufacture a selection of new modern bespoke reception desks. These units would feature in a number of areas around the centre, to provide a contemporary, secure and value for money solution.
The light coloured timber and glass units were manufactured in Birley’s Sheffield factory with, in some cases, removable supporting posts for security shutters.
